We are looking for a Business Development Expert to join our team – a key role that will support and drive forward our mission to turn alternative technologies into practical, high-impact solutions.
As Business Development Expert, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing strategic opportunities that enhance the organization’s research and innovation capabilities. This role bridges technical R&D functions with market, customer, and partner needs – ensuring that innovation efforts align with commercial potential and long-term business growth. You will collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team, and you will be Technophos’ ambassador on the national and international scene, building the company’s image and placing Technophos on the radar as an R&D and innovations partner.
Key tasks for the role:
Strategic Opportunity Identification
- Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to identify new R&D-driven business opportunities.
- Assess market demand, technical feasibility, and strategic fit of potential R&D investments.
- Develop business cases and give recommendations for new research initiatives, partnerships, or product development paths.
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including universities, research institutions, startups, suppliers, and industry bodies.
- Negotiate collaboration agreements, licensing deals, joint development contracts, and research partnerships.
- Act as a liaison between R&D teams, executive leadership, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth communication.
Innovation Pipeline Development
- Collaborating with R&D leads to shape the innovation roadmap based on market insights and strategic objectives.
- Evaluate and prioritize R&D projects using commercial, technical, and financial criteria.
- Support technology transition processes from research to productization or commercialization.
The person:
Enthusiastic and result-driven professional equipped with relevant expertise, problem solving and decision-making attitude and:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Science, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in business development, R&D management, innovation strategy, or technology partnerships.
- Experience with IP management, technology transfer, or commercialization processes is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term strategic partnerships
- Good soft skills: presentation, communication, teamwork and adaptability.
- Cross-functional project management skills are a plus.
- Strategic mindset and ability to apply systems thinking, setting priorities effectively to navigate uncertain environments.
- Proficiency in English (C1/C2 level), French is a plus.
- Readiness to travel abroad.
